Devon girl (6) seriously injured in road accident

Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious collision between a car and a six-year-old girl in Teignmouth.

Emergency services were called at 4.55pm yesterday [4 April] after the collision between a Ford Ranger pick-up and the child in Bitton Park Road near to First Avenue.

The girl, from Teignmouth, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Bristol Royal Infirmary. Her injuries are not believed life-threatening or life-changing.

Police closed Bitton Park Road for around three hours to carry out an examination of the scene and for the vehicle to be recovered.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the collision and asking anyone with information to contact police via 101@dc.police.uk or by phone on 101, quoting log number 535 of 04/04/17.
