Did you witness racially aggravated assault?

Police in Exmouth are appealing for witnesses following a racially aggravated assault.

The incident occurred at around 1.30am on Sunday 25th October in Exmouth.

The victim, a man aged 23 years was walking in Imperial Road, near to the footpath that leads to Halsdon Road Exmouth (near the foot subway leading to the train station).

He was approached by a number of men who made racist comments and then commenced to assault him by punching him.

The victim ran off but was chased by the offenders who caught up with him in Hartopp Road, and continued to assault him by punching and kicking him.

As a result of the assault, the victim sustained a fractured nose and ribs, and facial injuries.

Four men two aged 19 years and two aged 18 years were arrested in connection with this incident and have since been released on police bail until 6th January pending further investigation.

Police believe that a number of people witnessed this incident and are appealing for them to come forward, in particular a man and woman who assisted in separating people involved in the initial altercation.
