Essential works to Exe Estuary Trail
Clyst Bridge on the Exe Estuary Trail will be closed during the daytime on Saturday 14 June and from Monday 16 to Friday 20 June.
This section of the Trail through Goosemoor RSPB Nature Reserve will be closed from 7am to 6pm on these dates, which will be signed on site, in order for essential maintenance works to take place. On the Saturday, if dry, the trail surface will be surface dressed.
During the following week the viewing gallery roof will be installed. Outside of these hours, the Trail will be open as usual. Cyclists in particular are reminded to keep their speed down, and avoid sharp turns, to reduce the risk of skidding until the chippings of the new surface are firmly bedded in. One week to 14 days after completion, the surface will be swept to remove any residual loose chippings.
There will be a signed diversion for walkers and cyclists, via Bowling Green Road, Bridge Hill, Fisher Bridge and Odhams Link and vice versa.
The £2.6 million bridge and connecting route through Goosemoor, forms part of the National Cycle Network and completes the eastern side of the Exe Estuary Trail.
The timber boardwalk along the route has four galleries offering views into the RSPB Reserve through specially cut view ports, and one of these will have a covering roof once the work has been completed.
