Exeter band win South West video award
Exeter-based band Casitas are celebrating after scooping Best Music Video 2012 at the South West Music Awards.
The video was produced by first time director Felix McCabe, 19, who also took the pictures that make up the band's EP artwork.
The band is composed of Barnaby Bowles-Bray (lead vocals, keyboard), Felix Bush (lead guitar), Jack Knox (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), James Lapraik (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Edmund Wiilkinson on drums.
Their latest single, 'Places In Dreams' follows the current trend of incorporating a more digital sound into music.
Casitas all met and started playing together at school in late 2007 and released their first, self-titled EP in the summer of 2008.
They have played a number of festivals across Devon both relatively big – Chagstock several times, IvyLive in 2010 (the same year it was headlined by Athlete and Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly) and Aeon festival, and relatively small – Hard Rock Festival and Budstock.
The boys have also played in a variety of venues across Devon and been interviewed on BBC Radio Devon, Phonic FM and Exeter FM, as well as being played on 6 Music and Radio 1.
As any band should they have also done some terrible gigs, including playing in KFC in Exeter on a charity day to the annoyance of most of the customers present.
They also once ranaway from a mini-festival that would have involved them playing to the other band there and no one else.
Casita were runner up in battle of the bands in 2008 and won battle of the bands in 2009 at the Exeter Cavern.
The band is now in the process of booking gigs for this Christmas and next Summer as well as setting studio time aside to record again.
