Exmouth property fire

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of a property fire at Elvis Road, Exmouth at 23 minutes past midnight today.

Two fire appliances from Exmouth and one from Budleigh Salterton were mobilised to this incident.

Upon arrival crews confirmed building well alight and requested a further fire appliance which was mobilised from Middlemoor and the Aerial Ladder Platform which was mobilised from Danes Castle.

Below is a report from the incident:

At 01:01 - Crews confirmed fire within detached property consisting of two floors, fire in the first floor and roof of property.  Crews set to work to extinguish the fire using eight breathing apparatus, three hose reel jets and one safety jet.  Crews requested a further two fire appliances for manpower and cutting away which were mobilised from Topsham and Danes Castle.

At 01:33 - Steady progress being made,  one ambulance assisted one casualty suffering from smoke inhalation.

At 03:36 Crews confirmed fire involving garden shed which had spread to the property and roof space.  Crews continue to cut away and damp down.
