Extra buses between Exeter and Okehampton

Two extra late evening bus journeys will  between Okehampton and Exeter 6 days a week.

Funding from Devon County Council will service to run two extra journeys on the X9 service from Exeter each evening, Monday to Saturday at 7:50pm and 9:45pm.

There are also return journeys from Fore Street Arcade in Okehampton to Exeter at 9pm and 11pm.

Councillor Stuart Hughes, Devon County Councillor for Highways, said: “These additional services provide even more convenience and flexibility for passengers. I'm sure the journey times will be welcomed by those who have maybe had a day out in Exeter or Okehampton and want to stay a bit longer."

Councillor Andrew Leadbetter, Devon County Council Cabinet Member for Economy and Growth, and Cabinet liaison for Exeter, said: "These improved links are good for the local economy and will suit anyone who is working late or works slightly later hours. The 2145 also provides an important connection off the train from London, which leaves Paddington at 1903.”

Councillor Kevin Ball, Devon County Councillor for Okehampton Rural, said: “I’m pleased that passengers now have more choice of when they can travel between Okehampton and Exeter. The additional service times are welcome and are creating a much improved connection, which is important for the town. Devon County Council is also pursuing, with rail industry partners, all options for seeking longer term sustainable improvements to rail services from Okehampton.”
