A festive evening of song and Christmas decorations lit up Sidmouth’s Lymebourne Community Centre recently as tenants and residents from both Lymebourne and Arcot Park celebrated the season.

It’s the second year that East Devon District Council’s Community Development Team and mobile support officers have organised the Light Up Lymebourne event and this year Arcot Park residents took part too. The event is now called 'Light Up Lymebourne and Arcot' and the two communities are encouraged to decorate their windows and enter a competition to win the best Christmas lights display.

The La La Choir, led by Sam Abrahams, got the Christmas party off to a great start, with community singing for all to join in. Council staff dressed up in Christmas outfits and joined the tenants, residents and choir in the sing along.

Councillor Stuart Hughes, Chairman of East Devon District Council, helped judge the competition and took part in the festivities. He said: “It was really good to see so many residents had taken the time to decorate and light up their windows for Christmas and judging was an extremely difficult task. The prize giving social with the La La Choir was once again a memorable occasion and got Christmas off to a flying start.”
