Fire crews called to train fire at Exeter St David's

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service report that two appliances from Danes Castle and one from Middlemoor were mobilised to reports of a train on fire at St David's Station at 8.38pm last night.

On arrival crews discovered a small fire behind the panelling of the train.

Crews stripped back the panelling from the roof to reveal the fire.

The fire services reports "We used a Scotty pack, small tools, a short extension ladder, thermal imaging camera and a CO2 extinguisher to extinguish the fire.

"There was ten per cent damage to the extraction unit in the ventilation system."

The cause was determined to be accidental.
