Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service is again taking part in Exeter Pride this Saturday (16 May) to demonstrate its support for people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) in the community and the workplace.

Senior Officers as well as operational and support staff will be marching in the parade alongside members of ‘Fire Pride’, the Service’s own LGBT network.

Chief Fire Officer, Lee Howell said: “I’m proud to be marching with LGBT colleagues and the community at Pride at this great event. Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service is one of Stonewall’s top 100 employers for the third year running and events such as Pride give us an opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to equality at work and in the community.”

The parade will be led by a fire engine from Exeter, Danes Castle, starting at 12:00 from St. Sidwells Centre, Sidwell Street, Exeter and finishes at Exeter Phoenix Centre in Gandy Street by 13:00.

Following the parade, there will be a Marketplace in Rougemont Gardens behind the Phoenix with food stalls, shops, information hubs and entertainment which will run from 12:00 to 16:00.

The Service will be holding an information stall, organised by members of Fire Pride so be sure to come along and talk to us.
