Get an exclusive look behind the scenes in hospital at the RD&E’s open day
Members of the public can get an exclusive insight into hospital life at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital this September at its open day.
From 10am–3pm on Saturday 22nd September, visitors to the hospital’s Wonford site in Barrack Road, Exeter, will have the chance to see our state-of-the-art surgical robot and take guided tours of areas normally off-limits including operating theatres, laboratories, medical imaging, paediatrics, our huge laundry and more.
There will also be fun for all the family with live music, face painting, dancing and delicious street food at the open day’s HQ outside the RILD building, on the Wonford site.
Admission and parking is free for the event, but guided tours of hospital areas must to be booked online in advance to guarantee a place. Tour places are limited so early booking is advised to avoid disappointment. All information about the open day, the tours and how to book a place can be found on our special open day website: www.rdeopenday.co.uk
For those interested in a career in the NHS, advice will be available on the day as well as the opportunity to sit in on seminars and speak with hospital staff about their roles. Fundraising activities will take place throughout the day for the RD&E’s charitable partners, cancer charity FORCE and Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF).
Suzanne Tracey, RD&E Chief Executive, said: “I am delighted the Trust is holding this open day, our first for many years. This year we are marking 70 years of the NHS and the open day will be a fantastic way to celebrate this important anniversary with the wider community.”
