Go green in the great outdoors!
A new events leaflet from Teignbridge Council is encouraging people to get out and about in the great outdoors over the next three months.
Teignbridge has launched a new-look compact Green Spaces Events Guide for January – March.
With 17 events scheduled at 7 of the council’s managed wildlife sites the new ‘Green Spaces Events Guide’ is packed with fun forays into nature that are suitable for all ages. It tells you everything you need to know about each individual event, the vast majority of which are free.
They range from archery at the Green Flag award-winning Decoy Country Park, Newton Abbot to family orienteering at Dawlish Warren National Nature Reserve – with lots in between.
All are designed to protect and enhance the district’s natural environment. Each event is led by a professional Teignbridge Ranger so no-one needs to be a wildlife expert to take part.
Teignbridge’s green spaces include national nature reserves – Dawlish Warren along with other Local Nature Reserves - formal parks and gardens, meadows, woods, heaths, marshes and sand dunes. Many of these sites are within walking distance of local communities, are open all year, and are free for everyone to enjoy.
Cllr George Gribble, Teignbridge Executive Spokesperson for Communities, Recreation and Leisure said:
“It’s great that we can share the love for our beautiful and important natural assets with local people and tourists. The guide has been really popular in previous years and we hope people make full use of it when they get out and about.
“We’ve made sure it contains something for everyone and the even better thing about it is that most of the activities are free.
“I’d encourage everyone to get hold of the guide, keep it handy and perhaps even do your bit for the environment by getting involved in one of the more hands-on activities. It’s good for the soul!”
The guide will be updated for the following months – watch this space for details.
The illustrated brochure is now available online at www.teignbridge.gov.uk/greenspacesevents, or in hard copy from libraries, information centres, schools, Decoy Country Park office, Dawlish Warren visitor centre, and Teignbridge Council offices.
