Golden opportunity for Rainbow Living
Exeter-based charity Rainbow Living has been given a golden boost by securing a John Lewis Golden Jubilee Trust secondment.
The secondment will allow Janet Raeburn, a Partner at John Lewis Exeter, to join Rainbow Living for six months, where she will work closely with the team to develop and implement a sustainable marketing and fundraising strategy.
Rainbow Living supports adults with disabilities, mainly learning disability, and their families by providing accommodation, allowing young and older adults to live with their peers in supported living. For many people, Rainbow Living offers a crucial first step for moving out of the family home.
Ruth Airdrie from Rainbow Living said: “We are absolutely delighted that Janet is joining us and grateful to the Golden Jubilee Trust for making this possible. Our team is made up completely of volunteers, and Janet’s work and personal skills, experience and interest will help drive our fundraising and marketing activities forward, as well as helping us to meet our own objectives in serving the needs of the community - specifically to raise funds so we can secure a third house in the Exeter area.”
The secondment is part of the Golden Jubilee Trust, a charity initiative set up by the John Lewis Partnership. It gives UK-registered charities practical support through the opportunity to benefit from the skills of its Partners. The awards are made by a board of trustees who are careful to make sure that Partners skills are matched with the specific needs of the charity that is being supported.
“I’m really excited about working with Rainbow Living and feel so lucky to have this opportunity to be involved in making a direct and real difference to the lives of vulnerable people in my community” said Janet. “I’m thrilled that John Lewis has given me the chance to use my skills and experience in this way and can’t wait to get started.”
