The is the first time the local care provider has offered the grant and William Flint, Director of Bluebird Care Exeter and East Devon, said: “Bluebird Care are passionate about making a positive difference to people’s live, be that of our customers, our staff or by supporting local community projects.
"Our grant scheme aims to provide local community and volunteer groups with much needed funds to enable them to continue to perform the fantastic work they do”
Husband and wife team, William and Sara, launched Bluebird Care Exeter in 2011 and Bluebird Care East Devon in March 2013 and since then it’s gone from strength to strength – employing 80 members of staff from the local area and looking after over 200 customers.
The care provider is making £500 available quarterly to a community or volunteer group that works with older people, or adults with a mental illness, learning or physical disability within the Exeter or East Devon area. The grant will be awarded to the group that can best demonstrate a need for additional support, and will come with advice and support from the care provider, if needed or required.
Sara Flint, Director said: “We see a real difference in our customers who attend local volunteer led lunch, coffee and companionship groups – this being sometimes, other than our visits, the only contact they may have – so are vital in combatting feelings of isolation and loneliness as well as providing respite for unpaid carers”.
The £500 grant will be given quarterly and for the July award, groups and organisations have until Wednesday 1 July 2015 to return their completed application forms.
