Half Marathon weekend draws hundreds of runners
Hundreds of runners took to paths alongside the River Exe for the Exeter City Community Trust Half Marathon.
A total of 1,400 tickets were sold for the events on Saturday and Sunday (Feb 8 and 9); this included 200 people taking part in the Riverside Five Miles, a new distance which was introduced this year.
Organised by Exeter City Community Trust (ECCT), the charity partner of Exeter City Football Club, the half marathon is one of six major running events staged throughout the year. The event not only promotes health and fitness but also raises vital funds to support the charity’s community programmes, including education initiatives, Supported Housing and Parasports sessions.
Jamie Vittles, chief executive of Exeter City Community Trust, said: “It’s always inspiring to see so many people coming together, whether to achieve a personal goal, raise money for charity, or simply enjoy the experience of running. Many thanks to all of our sponsors and volunteers. Events like this help us continue our work in supporting people of all ages in our community.”
