Exeter Racecourse and Devon Hampers have teamed up to create a special hamper which will be presented to the winning owner of each day’s feature race at its 15 meetings during its 2014-2015 season.

General manager Tim Darby spent a morning at the Arundell Arms in Lifton, where Devon Hampers is based, and selected a dozen products to whet the appetite of owners.

He said: “There was so much to choose from, and in the end we picked what we thought was a good representation from Devon."

Included in each hamper will be Sharpham Dart Valley Reserve white wine Hogsbottom English Breakfast Marmalade, Hillside biscuits, Jack Ratt scrumpy cider, Devon Cottage organic fudge, Teoni’s strawberries and cream cookies, Willie’s Calau chocolate from Plymouth, Otter Bright Ale and an “I’d Rather Be In Devon” coaster.

Devon Hampers Adam Fox-Edwards said: “We’re delighted to be working with Exeter Racecourse and to be giving owners a taste of Devon. We are big supporters of jump racing and to be working with our local racecourse is fantastic.”

Each winning owner will also be presented with a handmade tankard which has been specifically commissioned for the racecourse and features the names of some famous racehorses like Best Mate, Denman, Kauto Star and Cue Card, who have raced at Exeter.
Tim explained: “We wanted to give owners something that was a representation of Exeter, and after seeking several of their opinions we soon realized that they would like something useful too.

“So we came up with a China Tankard Pint Mug which is really quite quirky as it is hand designed with mentions of these wonderful horses.”

The first hamper will be presented on the racecourse first meeting of the new season on 9 October, an Injured Jockeys’ Fund designated day when Liberty Trails-sponsored Sarah Gaisford, who was paralysed from the chest down at the course in 2007, will ride a full circuit of the racecourse.
