Riding is fun, but can be a solitary activity if you do not have a way of communicating. Using your mobile phone is not an option, since it can put you and your rider at serious risk of getting an accident. Motorcycle accidents can be nasty considering that you are the body of your bike. You want to avoid this. So, if you want an interactive experience when riding with a passenger, or a group of friends, then you can get yourself motorcycle intercoms. These devices allow you to talk to your passenger, or other rides within a given range without having to stop. You can find the best budget motorcycle intercom here, but here is how it works.

Bluetooth devices

Motorcycle intercoms are helmets with Bluetooth devices. With these helmets, you connect to those of other riders in the same manner as you connect other Bluetooth devices in your house. Most helmets are only compatible if they are of the same brand, so you may need to have your group of riders buy helmets of a similar brand. You can create a network and use a password to allow only your group of riders to connect to your network to prevent strangers from connecting into your network and listening to your conversations. You can also use this device to listen to music, or pick up calls without the need of stopping over. The controls are fixed in such a manner that you can easily manipulate the device even when wearing your gloves. Most of these devices have a range of up to two kilometers and can support up to 15 riders.

Waterproof

You may be wondering how you can communicate if you are riding in rainy conditions. There are a lot of waterproof intercom devices. As an addition to that, all helmets are also waterproof, so you do not have to worry about the rain. If you are not within the budget of a complete weather or waterproof device, you can get a cheaper intercom and place it in a plastic bag. You will still get the same functionalities, though not as convenient as the one attached to your helmet.

Noise cancellation device

Communicating while riding at super high speeds can be extremely difficult due to wind and other noise obstacles. Intercoms come fixed with noise cancellation devices that allow you to hear clearly. The device bars out or cancels the wind interference.

Touch buttons and Voice Activation

The intercoms come with different features. some have touch buttons, where you have to press some buttons if you want to talk or listen to some music. However, if you want the convenience of not having to use your hands completely to control your device, you can opt for the voice activation devices. These are ideal when doing superfast speeds so that you can focus solely on the road. The intercom activates when you start speaking, and goes off after a few idle minutes. It is also a good way of saving up on your charge or battery power.
