Life-size cut-out of Exeter nurse helps Hospiscare raise funds
If you were to pop into any Hospiscare shop now, you will be met by a new addition the team. Kim, in cardboard cut-out form, is updated each week with a new number - the hours of Hospiscare Community Nurse Specialist visits that are funded by the Weekly Prize Draw tickets sold in Hospiscare shops.
The real Kim Thomas is an Assistant Practitioner and familiar face at the Day Hospice at Searle House. Chris Routley, the Lottery Manager, says: “It was important to me that we showed a real Hospiscare care provider and not just a stock image, so I am delighted Kim has allowed us to use her image for the almost life-sized cut-out – she’s very brave.”
Kim is passionate about her job and says: “I love building relationships with the patients and seeing how they benefit from the support Hospiscare provides. The more money raised through the Weekly Prize Draw, the more support we can provide out in the community to people that really need it.”
Ticket sales this year are expected to equate to around 900 hours of home visits. So, when you are offered a Weekly Prize Draw ticket at one of the 20 Hospiscare shops across Exeter, Mid and East Devon, you’ll play with the confidence of knowing that your contribution really does make a difference. Of course, you’ll also have the chance of winning up to £1,000!
The Hospiscare Lottery team operates the Weekly Prize Draw and annual Summer and Christmas Prize Draws which, between them, produce a profit of over £250,000 each year towards the services provided by the charity. As well as buying individual tickets in Hospiscare shops, you can subscribe and be in the draw every week.
