Proof - if proof were needed - that litter picking can be fun, was provided when East Devon District Council organised a day of activities at Heathpark in Honiton last week.

The morning started with a litter picking session around the estate, involving members of the Council’s Tenant and Communities Section along with residents, Police Community Support Officers and representatives from Honiton Community Church. Between them they bagged up several sacks of litter.

This activity was followed by a hot-dog lunch for local children provided by the Community Safety Partnership and Honiton Community Church. Children were later able to play games and learn circus skills with the staff from the Council’s SWITCH Project.

The afternoon was rounded off with a free micro-chipping session for local dogs provided by EDDC’s Environmental Health Officers, Dog Warden and the PDSA. In all, half a dozen dogs were chipped.
