Local blogger makes history by becoming the first person to win Miss Devon over two consecutive years
Exeter-based blogger, Clara George, has won the Miss Devon title for the second year running and will go on to compete in the Miss Great Britain 75th anniversary final in February next year. This is the first time since the pageant was founded that the same person has won the Miss Devon title for two consecutive years.
Clara, 23, started her journey as a lifestyle blogger back in 2011, and started her consultancy business last year; the same year that she first won the Miss Devon award. Over recent years Clara has built up a reputation as a lifestyle blogger, documenting her experiences with fashion, beauty, food and travel, and gaining over 300,000 followers around the world across her social media platforms.
She has just been crowned Miss Devon for the second time following an in-depth interview process over several months. She will now go on to represent Devon in the Miss Great Britain final in February, which is set to be the biggest in 25 years as it will be the 75th anniversary of the prestigious competition.
Whilst working as a blogger and social media consultant, she is also a Digital Manager for two magazines based in Devon, One Magazine and Be Creative.
She will be starting her year by releasing a clothing range with local wellbeing company, Wellity. The clothing line will be launched alongside a campaign to encourage more positivity on social media and help people to deal with the negative side of the now prevalent online platforms that form such a large part of our lives - particularly amongst the younger generations.
“I’m thrilled to have won the Miss Devon title for a second year running and am excited for another year to act as a good female role model. I will be using my year to promote what’s great about Devon and its community, and support local and national charities by raising awareness of the work that they do”, commented Clara. “I am extremely proud to be Miss Devon for another year and am looking forward to representing our wonderful county in the Miss Great Britain Final in February.”
As part of her pledge to support charities, Clara will be running a half marathon in Devon this year to raise funds for Cancer Research.
Jemma Simmonds, Events and Operations Manager at Miss Great Britain said, “Miss Great Britain’s ethos is to raise money for good causes, promote a healthy lifestyle and empower women. After her first year, we are confident that Clara will yet again be an excellent representative for Devon and we look forward to having her in this year’s final.”
