Local care home teams up with Hospital Radio Exeter
Cumberland Grange Care Home in Exeter have teamed up with the RD&E’s very own radio station, Hospital Radio Exeter. Julia and Richard Green who present on a Friday evening 6pm – 8pm have kindly dedicated an hour of their show 7pm – 8pm to Cumberland Grange.
Residents are able to put in their song requests, messages and shout outs for loved ones and enjoy the hour of music and fun. Family members and friends of the residents are also able to request songs and send in messages which has bought a few tears to the eyes whilst listening.
Hospital Radio Exeter is the Radio Station for the patients of the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) and residents of Care Homes in the Exeter area manned by volunteers broadcasting from within the Hospital with a mixture of programmes from 60s to Soul, Show Music to 80s
Mica, Home Services Advisor at Cumberland Grange said: “Julia and Richard reached out to us after they saw our news article in the local newspaper when we visited the RD&E hospital on International Nurses Day and delivered cakes to the nurses. They felt we would be a great fit for them which was wonderful. Julia and Richard volunteer for the radio station and are just simply some of the loveliest people you will meet. They have been in to meet with our residents multiple times now and we all look forward to a Friday evening. There is lots of singing and dancing guaranteed.”
