Magdalen Road Summer Market a 'resounding success'
On Saturday 1st July 2023 the Magdalen Road Summer Market was held with resounding success, igniting a spirit of celebration and community in the heart of Exeter. The event showcased the thriving businesses and this incredible street.
“The event really showcased the neighbourhood of Magdalen Road” said Lottie Stanley, Markets Manager at InExeter. “It was joyful to see so many enjoying this enhanced space, with its fantastic café culture and the vibrant atmosphere that filled the air.”
The Summer Market was a testament to the unique charm of Magdalen Road, as businesses spilled out onto the road alongside market traders organised by Markets In Exeter.
One of the highlights of the event was the programmed line-up of music, curated by the Music in Devon initiative (MIDI). The music provided a delightful backdrop, further enhancing the festive atmosphere and creating an unforgettable ambiance throughout the day.
The event was opened by Councillor Carol Whitton, who played a pivotal role in the enhancements of the street undertaken by Devon County Council paving the way for community events like this to flourish.
Upon opening the event, Carol said: “It is wonderful to now have these works completed. These changes to the streetscape have created a fantastic space and a much-enhanced visitor experience. Let this be the first of many events for the community of St Leonards”.
This is an invitation to all to experience the vibrant community of Magdalen Road firsthand. By shopping locally and exploring the unique offerings of this charming street, individuals can show their support for the local businesses, artisans, and entrepreneurs who contribute to the area's richness and diversity.
