Man charged with GBH following Exeter Cathedral attack

A 34 year old man has been charged with GBH and criminal damage after attacking an elderly woman at Exeter Cathedral green on Saturday (15th February).

Police recieved reports that an eldery woman had been punched in the eye and was lying on the floor at 1.20pm on Saturday afternoon. The incident of assault was believed to have occured when the elderly woman questioned the man after he was seen climbing the outside of the Cathedral.

The man was arrested just minutes later and has been charged with GBH and criminal damage after being remanded in custody.

He was expected to appear in court today (Monday).
