Man in court today following armed robbery at jewellers in Exeter

Devon & Cornwall Police have reported that Alistair McWilliams, aged 27, from London was arrested on Wednesday 20 March in connection with the high value armed robbery of Ernest Jones jewellery store, which took place on 11 February. He has since been charged with robbery and remains in custody to appear before Exeter Magistrates Court this morning (Friday 22 March). Enquires are continuing to locate other suspects, as there were reports of three men involved in the incident.

The thieves ran off in the direction of John Lewis and got into a black Jaguar. Following an extensive search of the area, police located the vehicle in Sainsbury’s car park in Alphington.

During the incident one member of staff was injured by glass.
