Man injured in unprovoked assault in Exeter

Police are seeking witnesses to an unprovoked assault on a man in Exeter which left him with a serious hand injury.

The victim, in his 50s, was walking his dog around 9.30pm on Saturday 17 November when the incident took place.

When he reached Hamlin Lane he was subjected to verbal abuse from five teenage boys and one girl who were hanging around in the street.

During the altercation he was pushed to the ground by one of the boys. He sustained a broken bone in his hand which required hospital treatment.

Police are investigating and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the group in Hamlin Lane prior to the assault.
