Man rescued from smoke filled flat
A man was rescued from a smoke-filled flat in the St Thomas area of the city this afternoon (Monday 27 July).
Two fire engines from Exeter were sent to a report of smoke coming from a first floor flat window in Haven Road shortly before 2.30pm.
An ambulance was also requested to attend as it was unsure if anyone was still inside the property.
The fire service confirmed that a man was rescued from the flat, which was heavily smoke-logged, by two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using a hose reel jet as a precaution.
The man was checked over by paramedics.
Crews ventilated the property using a positive pressure ventilation fan.
The smoke had been caused by burnt toast.
