Man sought after Exeter robbery

Police have released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with a robbery at an Exeter shop.

A man ran into the store on Manston Road brandishing a baseball bat and threatened the female member of staff, repeatedly demanding cash.

The victim, a woman in her 30s, feared for her safety and handed over £200 cash.

The offender, who had his face covered, continued his threats as he left the store, running off up Jubilee Road towards St Annes Road.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and information about the robbery which happened around 6.50pm on Friday 5 July.

They have released images of a suspect in connection with the incident and would like anyone who recognises the man to come forward.

He is described as white, 5ft 7ins to 5ft to 10ins tall, of average build, and was wearing a dark top with either a hood or a hat.

Detective Constable Alex Bingham, of Exeter CID, said: “We would appreciate any information regarding the identity of the suspect and would urge people to contact us.

“This was a despicable crime where the lone female shop attendant feared for her own personal safety due to the aggressive behaviour of the offender.”

Anyone with information can contact the police via 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting crime reference DE/13/6199.
