Police arrested two men following a pursuit on the M5 on Wednesday night.

At around 11.45pm on Wednesday (15 October) traffic officers attempted to routinely stop a Ford Fiesta motor vehicle which was travelling into Devon on the M5.

The vehicle failed to stop and continued at speed southbound along the M5.

Officers, supported by the force helicopter, pursued the vehicle and boxing tactics were used in an attempt to stop the vehicle, but the driver failed to stop and rammed police vehicles in an attempt to escape.

During the pursuit items were thrown from the vehicle.

A ‘stinger’ device was utilised which eventually brought the vehicle to a controlled stop.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.

Two men aged 27 and 24 years from Liverpool were arrested on suspicion of being in possession of controlled drugs.

Following interview they were released on police bail pending further police investigation.
