New play equipment for Exeter youngsters to enjoy
Summer may be over but children still have reason to smile this autumn – new play equipment at Great Hill View Play Area! Children can now enjoy a wider range of play equipment at the site, thanks to Exeter City Council.
A new basket swing, and exciting spinning and rocking roundabout has been provided, along with a goal end incorporating football and basketball provision . These items add to the existing equipment which includes the longest slide in any of Exeter’s parks.
The site has also been generally tidied up, and the previously crumbling and slippery footpath has been resurfaced. Cllr Greg Sheldon, Lead councillor for Environment and Leisure, said: "We are delighted with the outcome of this project. The play area was in desperate need of new equipment as the area has not seen anything added for many years. The new play items and general improvements have given the open space a real lift and it looks great. It is particularly pleasing to know that local people were consulted at an event back in the summer where they played a role in selecting the equipment that they wanted for the play area."
This project has been funded via Exeter City Council’s play area refurbishments capital programme. Other sites to be improved this financial year include Woodwater Lane, Quarry Park Road, Chantry Meadow and Bull Meadow Play Areas.
