With the enforced cash ban upon us, paying for small amounts of scrap just isn’t viable, what with the admin time and cost of cheques!!

At all of our depots, G H Newbery & Son Ltd – Exeter, G H Newbery & Son (Honiton) Ltd, E B Janes Ltd (Tiverton & Minehead), Gorman Metals Ltd – Newton Abbot, and Quarry Breakers (Paignton) Ltd, are giving our customers the opportunity to ‘donate’ their scrap to charity. Our charity account at present is the Devon Air Ambulance Trust.

If you would like to do this, quite simply turn up at any of our depots and let the weighbridge know you’d like your scrap to go to the charity account. At the end of each month we’ll add up all the donations and make a cheque out (no cash!!) to the chosen charity.

This is a new idea, we’re not a 100% sure quite how successful it will be. We are hoping it will work well. It’s a win, win, win situation. You get rid of scrap that’s been cluttering up the garage, you are doing your bit for the environment by recycling and a local charity also benefits.

If it does work well, we will keep it going and hopefully change the charity from time to time. Check back next month to find out how much ££££ ‘you’ raised.
