Oak Furniture Land opens Exeter store
Exeter Chief’s famous mascot Big Chief….in the shape of a cake will be joining the Lord Mayor of Exeter to officially open the new Oak Furniture Land store on Exeter Retail Park on Saturday 24th May, from 10.30am to 11.30am.
The life size cake of Big Chief’s head will take centre stage as the Lord Mayor accepts the creation from the new Oak Furniture Land store.
Oak Furniture Land the UK’s largest retailer of solid hardwood furniture, commissioned the life size cake of Big Chief’s head to celebrate their arrival in town and show their support for the West Country’s number one Rugby team.
The new store, located at Unit 6B on the Exeter Retail Park, is 13,000 sq ft and features the latest made to match sofa ranges as well as 20 ranges of high quality oak, mango and mahogany furniture at great prices.
From traditional to contemporary styles, the store will showcase exclusively designed furniture to compliment all tastes; for the bedroom, dining room, living room and hallway.
Store manager Mike Smith, said: “We are looking forward to the Lord Mayor officially opening the store, and welcoming customers through the door. This is our first store in Exeter, and our fourth in the West Country.
"We’ve created 7 new local jobs and to celebrate we have some amazing offers in-store including up to 50% off selected items in our Bank Holiday Sale.”
Councillor Rachel Lyons, Lord Mayor of Exeter, said: “This new Oak Furniture Land store is a welcome investment in terms of job creation, and is a nice addition to the choice of shops for local residents. I am delighted to be opening the store and giving them a big West Country welcome.”
Marc Dibble of Exeter Community Chiefs said: “The Big Chief cake is a wonderful gesture to support the work we are doing with the next generation of aspiring rugby players. The Community Chiefs will be showcasing the community work they do at the Devon County Show alongside Big Chief, and to mark the opening of the new store we will be handing out slices of Big Chief’s cake to visitors to our stand on Saturday. ”
The amazing cake sculpture of Big Chief has been designed by acclaimed West Country based cake artist David Mason of Dave’s All Occasion Cakes and CakeBomb.
The Exeter store opening times: Monday to Friday from 9am to 8pm, Saturday from 9am to 6pm and Sunday from 10.30am to 5pm. (10:30 am - 11:00 am viewing only)
