Otter Nurseries donation helps plant stall bloom
Otter Nurseries recently stepped in to help a village fete with a donation of flowers to give a much needed boost to the annual plant stall.
The stall at the Buckerell fete is always a popular attraction for locals, but this year due to ill-health and less than favourable weather conditions for growing, it was in danger of being understocked.
A local resident approached Otter Nurseries, and the team agreed to support the event by donating a considerable number of bedding plants.
General Manager, John Giblin said: “At this time of year we sometimes have surplus stock of bedding, and on this occasion we were delighted to be able to help out.”
The contribution included marigolds, geraniums, petunias and dahlias, all in flower and ready to add instant colour to local gardens.
Steve Stone, who ran the stall, added: “The flowers from Otter Nurseries really helped us out, adding lots of vibrancy to the display. I’m pleased to say we were close to a sell-out by the end of the fete.”
The Buckerell fete is held in the grounds of Splatthayes B&B each July, and through proceeds from the plant stall, tombola, book stall, games, cream teas, skittles tournament and evening barbeque this year raised an impressive total in excess of £2,400 for the local church.
