Powderham Castle to celebrate Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III in aid of British Red Cross
Powderham Castle will celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III with a special weekend of events in aid of the British Red Cross.
A live screening of the Coronation will take place on the castle grounds on Saturday, May 6th, followed by a screening of the Coronation Concert and a community party on Sunday, May 7th.
There will also be local food, Pimms and cream teas, royal activities and entrance to Powderham Castle.
The Dowager Countess of Devon said: "I am so excited and delighted to know that we are going to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III at my home, Powderham Castle. My family has been associated with the Royal family for many generations and we are incredibly excited about this event.
“We are supporting the British Red Cross, of which I have been a Vice President for many years. We are very proud to be raising money for the charity, which refuses to ignore people in crisis.
“We are hoping that many people will join us at Powderham Castle to watch the Coronation of our new King. It will be a unique and very special occasion, and we look forward to seeing you there.”
The castle and grounds will be open on Saturday 6th May from 10am-5pm, with the Coronation Service being shown live on a large screen in the Deer Park from 11am.
On Sunday 7th May the concert screening and community party will be held from 5pm-11.30pm, while the grounds and castle will be open as normal from 10am-5pm.
People are being asked to pay what they can afford for their entrance, with ticket prices starting from as low as £1.
All profits from the event will go to the British Red Cross to help them carry out their vital charity work, helping people to prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters both in the UK and around the world.
Any donation of over £25 for a screening will include a reserved deckchair, complimentary Pimms or Raspberry Lemonade, complimentary strawberries and cream (vegan option available), and a Union Flag. To find out more, visit the Powderham Castle website here.
The British Red Cross is also calling for volunteers aged 16 and over to help out at the event. To find out more, visit their website here.
