Princesshay and Exeter High Street closed to investigate 'suspicious package'

At 6.24pm last night, Exeter City Centre Police were called to the Princesshay shopping area of Exeter by staff at the New Look store, who were concerned about a suspicious package that had been left in their shop. The shop was closed at the time of the call, as were the majority of premises in the area.

As a precautionary measure, a cordon was placed around the store and the direct vicinity and a specially trained police officer searched the scene.

The officer removed a bag containing non-suspicious items from the store and the cordons were removed.

The city centre around Princesshay shopping centre were reopened again at around 8pm.
