Last night cinemas across the country filled for the first night of the latest James Bond film “Skyfall”. Being a big James Bond fan since I was introduced to the films as a young boy by my Grandad, I booked ahead for me and seven members of my family to watch the film on the opening night. I can safely say none of us were disappointed and the “WOW” factor was high throughout.

The film starts with an action packed scene in Istanbul where Daniel Craig (James Bond) chases a bad guy across roof tops and onto a train travelling at 50mph. We then hear the Skyfall song sang by Adel, which in my opinion is the best song amongst recent films.

It is fair to say the film has varied but great cast, Javier Bardem plays the big bad guy but with a camp twist which we see when he first meets James Bond, Ralph Fiennes plays the chairman of the defence committee, he is a mysterious character that we learn more about as the film develops and his past is revealed.  Dame Judi Dench returns as “M” head of MI6, she is blamed at the beginning for losing some very important data and her career is threatened to end unless she can fix then situation. Whilst her career is threatened her past haunts her, which puts her relationship with James Bond to the test.

The comeback of the Aston Martin DB5 from the film Gold Finger was a huge moment in the cinema and a few cheers were heard. The Aston Martin wasn’t the only classic James Bond toy in the film, the new “Q” who is introduced as a very young but extremely clever man gives Bond a couple of new bits such as a traditional Walther PPK which only Bond can use as it is finger print sensitive. So Bond gets his car, his gadgets, but he also gets the girls and the cocktails.

What I like the most about this film is the way it explores James Bonds past and we learn much more about his parents and where and how he grew up, there are scenes where he returns to his parents’ house, the house is a typical of Bond as it has secrets of its own.

The film is action packed but has a depth to the film which really gives you a deeper understanding behind the hard face of James Bond, but the story isn’t so deep that you get lost in the story. My family all left the cinema with a full understanding of the film, but best of all full smiles. The film is a must see and will almost certainly be up for Oscars!
