On Saturday 21 November, the Killerton estate will be hosting ‘Night Run’. Starting just before 5pm, it is great way to enjoy the outdoors and parkland after dark.

There are two different length routes. First time runners can choose the beginner and family-friendly Explorer route (1.5km), while experienced off-roaders may opt for the Adventurer route (6km). Both courses are totally traffic-free and mostly on paths and trails rather than tarmac.

Andy Bramwell, Outdoors Visitor Services Officer at Killerton, said: “Put on your running shoes, turn on your head torch, and challenge your friends and family to tackle this twilight adventure. If you'd rather walk than run you're more than welcome – it could get muddy, but that’s half the fun.”

After the run, there is the opportunity to warm up with mulled cider and mince pies and see Killerton House lit up with a Christmas glow. Better still, guests that arrive early, between 11am and 4pm, can experience the grand opening of Killerton’s Christmas extravaganza, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

‘Night Run’ is a national series of night-time trail-running events, held in partnership with Cotswold Outdoor. For the 2015-2016 series, the National Trust is building on the success of last year and making the events bigger and better than ever, with even more places involved and great prizes up for grabs. Dogs on very short leads are welcome, so all the family, even the four–legged, can get involved. Sign up online or on the day, but there are discounts for early bird entries.

Andy Bramwell continues: “Night running events help us to support our essential conservation work. Your entry fee will go to the National Trust at Killerton so you can be sure the money is being spent on conserving this special historic parkland and garden.”
