Runners get dressed up for Halloween Five miler

Ghosts, ghouls and things that go bump in the night took on a Halloween running challenge beside the River Exe.

Runners competing in the Halloween Five, organised by Exeter City Community Trust, took on the five mile challenge along the banks of the river and through Riverside Valley Park on Sunday – and they were rewarded with glow in the dark medals!

Jamie Vittles, chief executive of Exeter City Community Trust, which is the partner charity of Exeter City Football Club, said that proceeds from the event helped to fund the charity’s vital work to support local people .

He added: “It was great to welcome runners to our first Halloween Five event, and brilliant to see the effort that some of our runners had gone to with their costumes. We’d like to thank our sponsors, who enable us to stage our running events, and the volunteers who support us by manning water stations and working as marshals at the event.”

Exeter City Community Trust running events are supported by sponsors: Tozers Law; Exeter Live Better; Stagecoach; HSBC and Radio Exe. It also supports the following charities: Alright Mate?; ELF; Julian House and Children’s Hospice South West.

The male winners were: First – Hugh Lea; second – Peter Monaghan and third – Matt Frost. The female winners were: First - Victoria France; second Claudine Benstead and third Debbie Marsden.
