Serious traffic accident on A38 near Kennford

Update: The A38 has now been re-opened

There are severe delays to traffic on the A38 near Kennford due to a traffic accident.

Emergency services including ambulance crews are currently at the scene of the crash.

At around 6.52am today a two vehicles collided on the A38 Southbound at Kennford just passed the Partridge Cycle Shop.

A Ford Transit van  left the carriageway into a hedge and a Land Rover  overturned.

A male driver of the transit was initially trapped, but released by fire service and flown by air ambulance to Derriford Hospital with serious injuries.

The A38 is closed and causing tailbacks to junction 31 of the M5.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area at this time and if possible find alternative routes.
