Slimmers lose a ton to build new group
Super slimmers in Heavitree, Exeter have lost a whopping 142 stone in weight so far this year – that’s a ton which is the equivalent of four baby elephant.
All together the members of the Heavitree Slimming World group are now 142 stone lighter than they were at the start of the year. Consultant, Lyndsay said that the members have done fantastic and are an inspiration for their determination to make 2015 slimmer for them. The group is so supportive to one and other and we all look forward to our Wednesday evenings. To celebrate the successes of the group, from Wednesday July 1st, we are adding a new session and group will be at 5.30 and 7.30.
The 85 members, who attend the group every week, follow Slimming World’s Food Optimising eating plan created by the organisation’s team of expert nutritionists, which encourages them to fill up on satisfying foods such as pasta, rice, potatoes, lean meat and fish, pulses and fruit and veg.
Hannah Rutter, has lost 5 stone and 6 dresses to reach her target weight by food optimsing. She says: “Filling up on lots of satisfying foods means you’re never hungry so I’ve never felt as though I was on adiet. Before I joined Slimming World I thought losing weight meant going to the gym and counting calories. But now I know it’s about making healthier choices about food and becoming a bit more active.
“Reaching this milestone as a group just proves the huge change that we’ve all made to our lives, some people who’ve lost big amounts of weight have probably even saved their lives. It’s brilliant to celebrate together as well because that’s how we’ve been losing weight – together. Every week we support and encourage each other and share tips and recipes, and on top of that we have a lot of fun.
“The support and inspiration we get from our Consultant Lyndsay has also been integral to our success. Because s/he’s lost weight herself, s/he understands the ups and downs of slimming and can offer us help and advice based on her/his own experience, without her/him I don’t think we’d have achieved nearly as much.”
Lyndsay says: “I’m delighted that my members have lost weight so beautifully. It has made a big difference to their lives and to their whole families’ lives, and all of them are happier and healthier now. Slimming has never been more important. In Exeter over 21% of adults and 17% of children are overweight and obese and I just want to help even more people to make real changes for life – there’s no better job satisfaction than that!”
Lyndsay’s group is held at St Micheals C of E Primary Academy School in Heavitree every Wednesday, and from 1st July the group will be at 5.30 pm and 7.30pm. For more information or to join just come along to group or contact Lyndsay on 07816223803
