Stagecoach announces 'Food Safari' competition to promote new Quay service
Stagecoach South West’s new Quayside service will be starting on Friday 6 July – just in time for the main summer season.
Details of the new service were confirmed last week by Exeter City Council who, along with the Environment Agency, Devon County Council and the Exeter Quay and Canal Trust, is funding the six month trial.
The Quay service will form part of the H route and all partners involved hope the improved connections between the city centre and the Quayside will be of benefit to visitors, residents and employees of local businesses.
Journeys from the city centre will start from 1821 on Friday and 1830 on Saturday with the last service back from the Quay departing at 2315 on both days. On Sundays, the first journey from the city centre will be at 0823 with the last service leaving at 2245. Buses will also call at St David’s Station in both directions. The timetable for the G bus route (Hamlin Gardens – City Centre – the Quay) will remain unchanged.
To celebrate the new service, Stagecoach has teamed up with Quayside businesses to launch a competition to win a ‘Food Safari for Two’. The prize includes cocktails at Doctor Ink’s Curiosities, main meals at Puerto Lounge, and desserts at Bar Venezia. Naturally, the prize also includes free bus travel so the lucky winners can enjoy a drink and allow someone else to drive!
Entry is easy – head over to the competition page <URL TBC> and just answer a simple question. Closing date is XXXX. Stagecoach will also be at the Exeter Street Food Market on 5 July and Jazz on the Quay on 8 July to hand out new timetables and answer any questions about the service.
Bob Dennison, Managing Director at Stagecoach South West, said: “With summer in full swing, this is the perfect time to launch our trial service so people can enjoy and explore everything the city’s historic Quayside has to offer.”
Alan Williamson, Chairman of the Exeter Canal and Quay Trust, said: “‘This is good news. Hopefully the traders, many of whom are our tenants, will benefit from the increased footfall that the new bus service will bring about.”
Customers can plan their journey to the Quayside by visiting www.stagecoachbus.com or by downloading the new Stagecoach Bus app from App and Play stores. For travel updates on the go, customers can follow on twitter @stagecoachsw.
