Stagecoach SW announces major uplift to bus services

Stagecoach South West has announced that, in light of the recent government announcement to relax retail restrictions, from 14th June 2020 they will be introducing a major uplift to their services with some of routes returning to their normal timetables.

The bus operator has confirmed changes have been made on board their vehicles to enable social distancing to take while travelling with them. To allow passengers to travel safely, some of their seats are blocked off to enable people to sit at least 2 metres away from each other.

Mike Watson, Managing Director of Stagecoach South West, said: “We are currently closely monitoring our services and adding additional buses in to provide extra capacity when needed. By returning to our previous service levels in most cases, from the 14th June, we will have much better frequency than is currently in place to help us keep people moving safely.”

He added “ We have also significantly enhanced our cleaning schedules across the business and I am so proud of our staff’s efforts over the last few months in helping us achieve this. Our people have worked tirelessly to ensure that all vehicle touch points and bus stations are cleaned throughout the day, helping to keep our customers and staff safe.”

The company have a summary of the timetables they will be operating from the 14th June online, including a link to download each new timetable. Some areas will see a return to the timetable in place before the COVID19 outbreak. Other routes will not return to normal just yet, but have more buses than the emergency timetables Stagecoach are currently operating. Some routes do have a completely new timetable which the bus operator has outlined on their website.

Mike Watson said: “We’ve revised some of our services in response to the changing needs and travel patterns of our customers and to improve reliability. Our teams have worked hard over the last few months to allow better connections for key workers and to keep essential travellers moving. By working closely with local business and hospitals we have built up strong relationships that have helped us to deliver services to better suit the needs of our communities.”

Exeter

Route 1 Tiverton • Willand • Cullompton • Broadclyst • Exeter New timetable introduced to operate every 20 minutes between Exeter and Cullompton Monday to Saturday, with 1 and 1As continuing hourly to Tiverton. Normal Sunday timetable.

Route 2 Exeter • Exminster • Starcross • Dawlish • Teignmouth • Newton Abbot New full timetable introduced with timing changes to improve reliability. Extra buses on a Sunday providing a half hourly service between Exeter and Dawlish.

Route 4 Axminster • Honiton • Ottery St Mary • Cranbrook • Exeter New full timetable introduced with timing changes to improve reliability.

Route 5 Exeter • Crediton • Copplestone • Hatherleigh & Okehampton (5A) • Barnstaple (5B) • Lapford & Chulmleigh (5C) New full timetable introduced with timing changes to improve reliability.

Route A Alphington• St Thomas • City Centre • Heavitree • Thornpark Rise New timetable introduced to operate every 20 minutes.

Route B Pinhoe • City Centre • Marsh Barton • Exminster New timetable introduced to operate every 30 minutes between Exeter Bus Station and Exminster, and hourly to Dawlish Monday to Saturday (as per original plan). All journeys now serving Matford Park & Ride. Extra journeys between the City and Matford now operate on Sundays.

Routes D/H University • Digby (D) St David’s • Hospital • Digby (H1/H2)  Route D Will not be operating until further notice. Route H New timetable introduced to operate a revised full service. H1 wlll operate from St Davids to Digby via Broadfields every hour. H2 will operate from St Davids to Digby via Pynes Hill every hour, on the opposite half hour. Service H also operates between St David's and RD&E Hospital every 30 minutes, making a 15 minute service between St David's and RD&E.

Route E/F Exwick- Exeter- Savoy Hill  Changes have been made to allow these routes to serve core Exeter residential fringe areas separately, improving service reliability caused by delays crossing congested areas. Passengers will be able to connect to onward buses in the city centre for cross city journeys.
Route E New timetable introduced to operate every 15 minutes from South Street.
Routes F1/F2 New timetable introduced to operate every 30 minutes from Sidwell Street.

Route IJKT Monkerton • Digby •Exeter • Countess Wear • Topsham  Service I/J New timetable introduced to operate every 30 minutes.
Service K will be revised to operate between Sidwell Street and Tithebarn Green/ Science Park every 20 minutes. The route will now operate via Pinhoe Road. Whipton Barton will be served by routes I and J. Service T will operate between Exeter High Street and Topsham, evenings & Sundays with the three additional Mon-Sat journeys.

Route L Pinhoe • Exeter  A new timetable and simpler route has been introduced to improve reliability. Buses will operate between Fore Street and Pinhoe, every 30 minutes.
Buses will no longer serve EDF Energy , which is covered by the Red P&R plus routes 4 and 56, or Crossmead which is covered by route P.

Route P Crossmead • High Meadows • St • Thomas • City Centre • Mount Pleasant Road • Pennsylvania Will revert back to the previous timetable.

Route R/S Rifford Road• City Centre • Topsham Road • Heavitree  New timetable introduced to operate every 30 minutes, Monday to Sunday.

Route RED P&R Honiton Road P&R • Whipton • City Centre  New timetable introduced to operate every 20 minutes, Monday to Sunday.

Route GREEN P&R Kestrel Way • Sowton Park & Ride • Heavitree • City Centre  New timetable introduced to operate every 20 minutes, with weekday peak extensions to Kestrel Way.

Plymouth

Route 1 Plymouth City Centre  • Mutley  • Crownhill  • Derriford  • Yelverton  • Horrabridge  • Tavistock  A new timetable will be introduced with extra morning trips Monday to Friday to better serve Derriford Hospital, additionally there will be a dailyl journey at 22:15 from Derriford Hospital to the City Centre. Last buses on weekdays are 21:00 from Tavistock to Plymouth, and 22:00 from Plymouth to Tavistock
