Stately home opens doors for first artisan fair
Escot House is hosting an artisan fair on November 24 ideal for anyone looking for something different to give as a gift this Christmas.
It’s the first time Escot has held an event like this in the house and the organisers are hoping it will be a runaway success. The fair is enabling small, independent makers the opportunity to showcase their wares.
The fair is being organised by The Creative Business Network, champion of creative businesses in the South West.
Founder of the network, Helen Bottrill said: “There aren’t always enough outlets locally for creatives to get their work seen; after visiting Escot House for an open day event we thought what a great venue it would make for a Christmas fair.
“The house is a unique, quirky location perfect for artisans to display their beautiful gift ideas.”
25 stalls will be selling a wide variety of unique gift ideas, from handmade jewellery, ceramics and natural wax candles to edible flowers and chunky knits.
The organisers are busy sorting out optional activities including bushcraft for younger visitors to try. Providing sustenance to shoppers are The Rusty Pig, Lemon Jelli and The Travelling Pizzeria, while in the house there will be mulled wine, teas and coffees to purchase.
The fair starts at 10am and will be open until 4pm. Entrance is free and there’s plenty of free parking right next to the house.
To make a day of it, families can visit neighbouring Wildwood Escot with its winding woodland paths, adventure play and resident animals. Last entry to Wildwood is 3pm.
