Stolen laptop with family photographs returned to victim after three years

A victim in Tiverton is delighted to have his laptop returned to him following a burglary at his home three years ago.

Brian Williams, 54, had his laptop taken when his home in Moorhayes, Tiverton was burgled back in April 2010.

Two laptops and a digital camera were taken by thieves who have since been convicted.

Mr Williams said: “One of the laptops had hundreds of family photographs on there and thankfully this is the one which was been returned.”

“I was also a secretary for the Moorhayes Community Centre at the time and all of the documents relating to the centre were on there. Luckily I had copies of most of them.

“I am still trying to recover everything on the laptop but I am amazed that I’ve had it returned to me after all this time. I never thought I’d see it again.”

The laptop was returned after officers working on Operation Zephyr, tackling organised crime in the region, recovered it in Liverpool at an address of a member of an organised criminal gang.

Research of the computer revealed it had been stolen from the burglary at Mr Williams’ house.
