Storm anniversary marked by brewery donation

A year on from the devastating storm that hit the Dawlish railway line on 5th February 2014, Dartmoor Brewery revisits the popular seaside town with donations for two local charities at the heart of the Dawlish community. 

Dartmoor Brewery raised the donation by the sale of their special edition ‘On Track’ charity beer launched with the support of CAMRA. The donation totaling over £200 was split equally between The Snooky Trust, helping 18- 40 year olds with physical illness in Dawlish and Devon, and Assist Teignbridge that promotes, volunteers and offers information, advice, help and assistance to elderly and vulnerable people through the Community Support Project.

Caroline Steffens from The Snooky Trust commented: “It’s fantastic that Dartmoor Brewery have raised this money for the Dawlish community after the extremely hard times we faced this time a year ago. It’s been a great success.”

Assist Teignbridge spokesperson, Shirley Fewings, added: “We are so delighted to be accepting this donation. Every penny we receive is extremely important to us, and we would like to thank Dartmoor Brewery for their support.”

Accompanying both charities was CAMRA Deputy Regional Director, Rod Davis, Vice Chairman of Exeter CAMRA, Ray Hodgins, Mayor and Mayoress of Dawlish, John and Linda Petherick, Station Manager, Ian Mundy, Project Officer of the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership, Celia Minoughan, and Scott Prideaux the Sales and Social Media Manager at Dartmoor Brewery.

For every ‘On Track’ bottle sold, each one numbered from 1 to 444, 50 pence was donated to the Dawlish charities to aid the local community. CAMRA Regional Director, Gareth MacDonald commented: “After the severe damage to the Dawlish railway last year, many pubs were badly affected. Dartmoor Brewery have done a great job of showing a commitment to the local community and we are proud to support them.”

Dartmoor Brewery is the highest in England and produces various award winning ales.
