Table tennis fun for everyone
Regulars at a city community centre are celebrating after Active Exeter presented a new table tennis table. You can check these choices if you need to buy more paddles and other accessories related to the game.
The table is a popular attraction at The Beacon Community Centre in Beacon Heath and replaces an older version.
Richard Cummings, centre manager, said: “We’re very grateful for Active Exeter donating the table to us. We’re happy for the centre to be available for fun and exercise and we love seeing people of all ages using the facilities here.
The last table was a little ropey(!) so it’s great to see so many people using the new table. Also, we’ve just re-covered our two pool tables so our regulars can enjoy a smoother game as well."
The tables are used at the centre’s two youth clubs and during its Friday coffee mornings. Another new attraction at this event is a children’s craft table which is proving popular.
The Friday coffee morning, runs between 10am and noon, there’s free homemade cake and a cuppa, a children’s play area and plenty of Beacon volunteers to welcome new people.
Read Beacon Life, a new blog starting today which tells a poignant story of how a local woman was helped by Beacon volunteers and our friends from Exeter Foodbank.
