Tales from the organ loft
Exeter’s most experienced choirmaster will shed light on his life’s work with choirs over a busy career at a lunchtime lecture next week.
Andrew Millington has worked in Cathedral music for his entire working life and has been Director of Music at Exeter Cathedral since 1999. The lunchtime talk on 3rd June at 13.00 (part of the Cathedral’s Lunchtime Bite series) is a repeat of the sold-out event that took place in February this year, and will look back on a lifetime’s career in church music, with reminiscences of Worcester, Gloucester, Guildford and Exeter Cathedrals. There will be some serious thoughts mixed with anecdotes about the variety of characters he has worked with over the years.
Andrew retires at the end of the Cathedral Choir’s summer term. His final concert with the choir takes place on Saturday 13th June and he gives a ‘farewell’ organ recital on Wednesday 1 July.
