Taylor Wimpey has continued its support for people with life-limiting diseases and their families by donating the main raffle prize for a musical fundraiser in Topsham.

The housebuilder lent a hand to Topsham Friends of Hospiscare, giving a £50 cash prize for the fundraising group’s Jazz in the Garden event on 2nd July.

Now in its 11th year, Jazz in the Garden is a major event on the Topsham calendar and is always a sell-out. The event raises much-needed funds for Hospiscare, which provides end of life care for 2,500 patients and families at home or in its specialist ward in Exeter. This year’s event raised a total of £1,935.

Taylor Wimpey is building new homes in Topsham, at the Apsham Grange development. This is the second year the team has supported the fundraising efforts, having previously donated a hamper and funding towards a food and wine night.

Gill Mclean, Chair of Topsham Friends of Hospiscare, said: “An opportunity to sell raffle tickets provides an opportunity to talk about Hospiscare to people who may never have heard the name before. Taylor Wimpey’s kind donation was the lead prize and meant we had a really appealing raffle this year.

“Most local people have been touched by Hospiscare’s support for a family member or friend, but new arrivals are often unaware of the amazing support available on their doorstep. With the expansion of new housing around Topsham, making these connections is vital to Hospiscare’s future.”

Melissa Langton, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Exeter, said: “Helping a local cause such as Topsham Friends of Hospiscare is incredibly rewarding for us here at Taylor Wimpey. We understand how important it is to be there for people who need end-of-life care and the work Hospiscare provides is second to none.

“We’re pleased to continue our relationship, and work together to raise further awareness and support for this incredibly worthy cause.”
