Top marks for Exeter care home
Recent results from a national survey have shown that at RMBI Home Cadogan Court in Exeter, there is a high level of customer satisfaction, with an impressive 90% of residents saying they are happy with the care and support they receive.
Now in its third year, the Your Care Rating survey is the country’s largest and most authoritative survey of care home residents. The nationwide survey gives residents, and their relatives, a voice and enables care home providers to continue to improve the service they offer.
The term ‘care home’ can often attract negativity due to past news stories of neglect, abuse and quality of life. Cadogan Court strives to change this perception by providing a home-from-home experience, delivering person centred care, home cooked nutritional food and a varied activities programme. The environment is friendly, warm and welcoming, because after all, this is people’s home.
The philosophy of care at Cadogan Court is to help residents continue to live a fulfilled and independent life. Being older doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy yourself and staff at the Home do all they can to help residents get the most out of life.
This approach to care was positively reflected in the survey with 93% of residents stating that they were happy overall with living at the Home and 97% said they felt the Home is a safe and secure place to live.
A relative of a resident at the Home said, “I have been very pleased with the standard of care and attention my relative has received, and compared with other similar establishments I cannot speak highly enough of Cadogan Court.”
The Home has a number of communal areas as well as outdoor space and promotes an open environment with a community spirit. Throughout the day you’ll see residents in deep conversation, just like you would in a restaurant or café. 89% of relatives agreed the Home is a safe and secure place to live.
Reflecting on the survey results Helen Mitchell, Home Manager at Cadogan Court, said, “We really get to know our residents and work with them to design a care plan which meets their needs and allows them to experience wellbeing and meaningfulness. We have a great group of staff who are passionate about their work and this is reflected through the great results we’ve seen in the national surveys.”
