Veitch Penny supports Will to Remember Scheme
One person will develop dementia every three minutes in the UK during 2016. There are already 850,000 people with dementia in the UK and it is estimated that this figure will rise to over 1 million by 2025.
In light of these statistics planning for the future is vitally important yet nearly 60% of adults don’t have a Will. A Will ensures that your property, savings and other assets will go the people you want benefit rather than letting the government decide. Although that decision may appear simple, it is necessary to take legal advice to ensure your wishes are accurately recorded and to consider any inheritance tax implications.
Exeter and Crediton based solicitors Veitch Penny have teamed up with Alzheimer’s Society to encourage and help people to write their Will. The ‘Will to Remember’ scheme, supported by Veitch Penny, offers a discounted Will writing service to anyone wishing to write or update their Will, at no cost to the charity.
Lesley Austen, private client solicitor at Veitch Penny comments: “We are proud to be a part of such a worthwhile scheme. Over half of the people in our local community don’t have a Will so hopefully this scheme will encourage them to make a Will and protect their assets for the benefit of their loved ones.”
