Views sought on Exminster Neighbourhood Plan
Residents of Exminster are being asked for their views on a new plan that will help shape their village.
Exminster Parish Council has prepared a Neighbourhood Plan with the help of the local community and it is now available for others to comment on.
A Neighbourhood Plan is a way of helping local communities to guide and influence future development of the place in which they live and work. It can be used help choose where new homes, shops, businesses and other development should be built and identify and protect important local green spaces.
Exminster Parish Council formed a working party to create a Plan with Teignbridge providing assistance and support where required.
There are six weeks to put forward representations on the Neighbourhood Plan. The consultation ends at 4pm Friday 12 September 2014.
Cllr John Goodey, Teignbridge District Council’s Executive member for housing and planning and ward member for Kenn Valley, said: “This is an important milestone in the progress of Exminster's neighbourhood development plan. The volunteer working party made up of residents and parish councillors have been working on bringing to fruition this plan since February 2013.
“Their vision for the neighbourhood as a place where people want to live, with the infrastructure and amenities that will offer an outstanding quality of life for current and future generations, has been supported by the residents of the Exminster parish at every stage of the plans development.
“With the support and advice from officers of the spatial planning department of Teignbridge which had been much appreciated by the working party, this six week consultation of that work is the final stage before the plan is submitted for examination by an independent examiner.
“I would encourage other parishes to look at this consultation document and understand the benefits a Neighbourhood Plan could provide in their communities.”
Cllr Kevin Lake, Teignbridge’s ward member for Kenn Valley and Executive member for Environmental Health, said: “This is a great chance to people to say what they think and offer views on the Plan. Lots of work has gone into it and we really hope people take the time to get involved with the consultation.”
