Village left without power

Many properties in Longdown, near Exeter, were left without power after an electricity pole caught fire and spread to a nearby tree.

Firefighters from Danes Castle were called to the incident, at Chapel Hill in Longdown, at just after 9pm on Friday.

Upon arrival, crews found one transformer arcing and on fire, western power were also requested.

The fire was extinguished, almost two hours later, after fire crews used one hose reel jet.

Western Power were left in charge of bringing power back to the area. However, it is not known what time power was back on for residents.
